Ghanaian gospel musician Jack Alolome has defended President John Dramani Mahama following his recent statements about how the COVID-19 pandemic significantly derailed Ghana’s economic progress.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on OKAY FM, shared on Instagram on September 26, 2025, Jack Alolome explained that the president highlighted the severe impact of COVID-19 on the economy because he wants to attract investors to the country.

He noted that the pandemic has indeed harmed Ghana, and the president’s speech in New York at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly is intended to encourage global investors to put their money into the country.

“What he said is the truth. COVID really hurt the economy. We can bring the economy back to where it was before the COVID pandemic. He said what he said in New York because he wants investors back in the country,” he said.

Jack Alolome also issued a caution to some members of the New Patriotic Party.

He noted that the opposition party has also faced the severe economic impact of the pandemic and therefore should stop criticizing Mahama.

“They should not focus only on that side because they amassed wealth and donations that people made during COVID-19. Some even stole lands, among others,” he added.
