President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure the prompt distribution of essential food items to senior high schools across the country.
This update shared on X by Sika Official on Thursday, January 17, 2025, showed a government delegation at a warehouse at Tema, overseeing the evacuation and distribution of critical food supplies to schools nationwide.
This directive comes in response to concerns raised by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) regarding delays in food supplies to some senior high schools, despite a prior order from President Mahama for the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to facilitate the swift distribution of food stored in Tema’s warehouses.
In an interview on JoyNews on Thursday, January 16, 2025, the General Secretary of CHASS, Primus Baro, stated that despite meetings between government officials, the food supply situation at some schools had not improved.
