Governance guru, Kwasi Nyarko has advised President-elect, John Dramani Mahama to be cautious and thorough in the prosecution of government officials of the Akufo-Addo led government.

According to him, John Mahama cannot afford to make any errors in the prosecution of these corrupt public officials, hence the need for him not to rush in this endeavor.

He also advised John Mahama against succumbing to pressure from supporters of the NDC and the Ghanaian public who want to see some officials of the NPP immediately jailed.

The governance expert urged John Mahama to take his time and gather airtight evidence through thorough investigations and secure convictions which cannot be contested.

“You have won the 2024 elections overwhelmingly, the expectations are very high, don’t give in to the pressure, don’t fail. Certainly, hold past officials accountable to their stewardship but tread cautiously, don’t rush the process, do a thorough investigation, get strong evidence, that is what the court wants, or else it will be business as usual. I wish you all the best,” he said in a message congratulating Mahama on his election as President.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) during their campaign activities leading into the December 7, 2024 elections promised to implement Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), a project which seeks to investigate corrupt practices under the Akufo-Addo led administration and reclaim all properties acquired illegally by appointees.

Ghanaians are expectant of this initiative as many have urged the President-elect to be swift with its implementation.
