Madagascar showed intent to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday evening September 8, 2025, coming from behind to beat Chad 3-1 in a crucial encounter.

The Barea hosted the Round 8 opponent in Group I, needing nothing but a win to pile pressure on Ghana at the top of the table.

In the game played at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Chad stunned Madagascar in the 25th minute when they scored through Yves Allarabaye after he was set up by Franck Tchaouna.

Despite mounting pressure to restore parity to the game before halftime, Madagascar could not find a breakthrough and had to go into the break trailing.

However, the persistent efforts of the hosts paid off in the second half. Goals from Warren Caddy, Rayan Raveloson, and Hakim Abdallah propelled Madagascar to come from behind to tame Chad at the end of the contest.

The win has lifted Madagascar to second in the Group I standings with 16 points, and now 3 points behind Ghana.
