Machete attack rocks Melbourne after teenagers are injured in bayside suburb

By ANTOINETTE MILIENOS, NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA

    Published: 17:47 EDT, 19 October 2025 | Updated: 18:02 EDT, 19 October 2025

Two teenagers have been left with slash wounds after a group of people armed with machetes attacked them outside a popular amusement park in Melbourne.

Emergency services rushed to Cavell Street, outside Luna Park in Melbourne’s bayside suburb of St Kilda, at about 6.35pm on Sunday.

Police said a group of male offenders were armed with machetes and attacked the two teenagers.

The teenagers suffered slash wounds to their arms and were treated at the scene.

Police are on the hunt for the attackers who were also involved in a car crash after fleeing the scene in a grey-coloured Land Rover.

‘The Vehicle was involved in a minor collision with another car at the intersection of The Esplanade and Cavell Street before it fled towards Melbourne,’ Victoria Police said.

Investigators have not made any arrests and the Land Rover has yet to be located.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage is being urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
