A tweet from Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has sparked reactions on social media.

On January 13, 2025, following confirmation that the statue of Akufo-Addo had been vandalised, M.anifest shared a tweet that read, “You can’t cement your legacy with cement blocks. Before the cock crows, the winds of change will cock block.”

Although M.anifest’s post lacks direct context, some netizens have linked the message to President Akufo-Addo’s statue.

Meanwhile, a check by GhanaWeb reveals that the rapper’s tweet is a line from his hit song Ozymandias, released eight years ago.

The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, was vandalised by unknown individuals on January 13, 2025.

It remains unclear who is responsible for the destruction.

This is not the first time the statue has been tampered with, as part of it was damaged a few weeks ago but subsequently repaired.

President Akufo-Addo faced significant criticism after unveiling the statue on November 6, 2024.
