Evangelist Papa Shee, an ex-musician and close associate of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has disclosed that several of Lumba’s baby mamas have contacted him to express concern over how the musician’s legal wife, Akosua Serwaa, is being treated by the family.
Speaking to journalists after the Kumasi High Court adjourned the injunction case filed by Akosua Serwaa to October 28, 2025, Papa Shee said many of the women who had children with the late musician had personally reached out to him following the recent controversy surrounding Lumba’s funeral.
According to him, these women sympathized with Akosua Serwaa and could not understand why she was being sidelined despite being the musician’s lawful wife.
No one has the right to move Lumba’s body until the court decides – Akosua Serwaa
He explained that during his years in the entertainment industry, he was well aware of the women Daddy Lumba had children with outside his marriage, but they all recognized Akosua Serwaa as his legitimate spouse.
“She is aware that he (Daddy Lumba) had kids with so many women. When I was in the world, I knew the women he had kids with, and by now those women watching know that my brother and I knew of their children. As my brother is no longer alive, many of them have called me saying, ‘Osofo, why are they doing this to Mama Serwaa? We all followed up at a point but we have given respect to her, and today they are asking for forgiveness,’” he said.
Papa Shee also shared a story about one of Daddy Lumba’s baby mamas who sought forgiveness from Akosua Serwaa for having a child with her husband.
According to him, he facilitated a meeting between the woman, her child, and Akosua Serwaa, which ended with a gesture of compassion.
“One of them came to me seeking that I plead with Mama Serwaa on her behalf for having a child with her husband. So I led her and her child to Mama Serwaa, and she (Akosua Serwaa) embraced the child and the woman, after which she prayed for the boy. She then stated that she had forgiven all that had happened in the past. That is what we were expecting Odo Broni to do,” he recounted.
The evangelist also mentioned that despite Daddy Lumba having children outside of marriage, it was wrong for anyone to neglect them.
He said the late musician’s children, whether born in or out of wedlock, all deserve care, though that does not automatically make their mothers legal wives.
“If my brother has children outside of his marriage, it does not mean we should abandon them. If you give birth with someone, it does not mean you will become a legal wife,” Papa Shee said.
