The Netherlands international has sealed a long-term contract with Liverpool

Liverpool FC have announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, marking a significant addition to their squad.

The Netherlands international sealed a long-term contract at the AXA Training Centre on Friday, May 30, 2025, after successfully passing his medical. The deal has been confirmed as a key move for the Reds as they look to strengthen their options on the right flank.

In his first interview with Liverpool, Frimpong expressed his enthusiasm and confidence about the move. He described the process as smooth and straightforward, stating: “It went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer. I’m ready to give my all—my energy and my work rate—to help the team succeed.” The player also assured fans of his dedication and commitment to winning trophies with Liverpool.

The 24-year-old arrives at Anfield after a successful stint in Germany, where he made 190 appearances, scored 30 goals, and provided 44 assists for Leverkusen over four-and-a-half seasons. Frimpong played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s historic season, helping them clinch both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal in 2023–24. His performances earned him a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for two consecutive years.

Born in Amsterdam but of Ghanaian descent, Frimpong began his football journey in the youth ranks of Manchester City before moving to Celtic in 2019. During his time in Scotland, he enjoyed a fruitful spell, winning three major honours. His impressive performances in Scotland and Germany led to his debut for the Dutch national team in October 2023. He has since earned 12 caps and scored one goal.
