Messi and his wife during the Coldplay concert

Football royalty met rock royalty on Sunday, July 27, 2025, as Lionel Messi and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo were captured on the big screen during Coldplay’s electrifying concert at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The Inter Miami star was enjoying the evening with Antonela and their three children, seated in a private suite as the British band wrapped up the final US leg of their Music of the Spheres World Tour.

But the spotlight found him once again, this time not on the pitch, but on the jumbotron.

As the cameras zoomed in on the couple, the crowd erupted into a roar of recognition.

Moments later, lead singer Chris Martin paused the music to acknowledge the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, singing:

“Thanks for coming today to see our band play, the No. 1 sports person of all time.”

The ovation that followed was deafening, with chants of “Messi! Messi!” echoing around the stadium.

Messi responded with a smile and a wave, visibly moved by the unexpected tribute.

Later that night, the 38-year-old Argentine shared a series of Instagram photos showing intimate moments from the event, snaps of Antonela swaying to the music, their children wide-eyed with wonder, and a panoramic view of the packed stadium lit by thousands of glowing wristbands.

The shoutout placed Messi alongside another sports legend, Roger Federer, who was similarly honored by Martin during a Coldplay concert in Rome in 2024, where the singer called him “the greatest tennis player of all time.”
