Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will line up for the same team for the first time ever later this year… if Carlos Tevez gets his way.
The world superstars have gone head to head over the years with their biggest tussles coming while they were at the top of the game with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Messi and Ronaldo were pitted as rivals as they vied for the Ballon d’Or with either player winning the honour an incredible 10 years in a row between 2008 and 2017.
With Messi now plying his trade in the United States with Inter Miami and Cristiano Ronaldo happy in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr, it doesn’t look like they will be club team-mates before they retire in the not so distant future.
However fans of both players might finally see the duo share a dressing room as Tevez, who is a former team-mate of both players, plans to invite them to his testimonial match in December.
‘Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will be there,’ promised Tevez.
‘I’ll go pick them myself if I have to. I have both of them on WhatsApp.’

Carlos Tevez is planning to invite Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo to his testimonial match
Tevez lined up alongside Messi when representing Argentina’s national team
Tevez hung up his boots back in 2021 but is yet to host a celebratory match to honour his career despite achieving great success with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Boca Juniors.
Juan Roman Riquelme has granted Tevez his wish of hosting his testimonial match at Boca Juniors’ legendary La Bombonera Stadium, according to A Bola.
And both Messi and Ronaldo are set to top the guestlist of stars taking part, along with Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon.
Messi, who retired from international duty with Argentina on Monday, represented his country alongside Tevez between 2005 and 2015.
Ronaldo and Tevez formed a deadly three-pronged attack alongside Rooney during the Argentine’s two-year spell at Old Trafford between 2007 and 2009.
They won back-to-back Premier League titles as well as the Champions League, League Cup and Club World Cup.
Tevez didn’t win a major honour with Argentina’s national team but did finish as a Copa America runner-up in 2004, 2007 and 2015. He also won a gold medal with Argentina’s Olympic team in 2004.
