Kumawood actor and musician Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has chalked a major success with his latest film, Captain Ibrahim Traoré: The Last African Hero.

Following weeks of buzzing headlines since its release, the movie has been nominated for Best African Movie at the New Zealand International Film Festival.

The movie was a part of the top 10 selected from over 500 submissions according to a post made by the Wizzy Empire boss.

In the post made on August 18, 2025, via Instagram, Lilwin described the recognition as a triumph not only for himself but for Ghanaian cinema.

The movie directed by Jackson K. Bentum, chronicles the rise of Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who assumed power through a coup on September 30, 2022.

Beyond documenting his leadership, the film portrays Traoré as a symbol of youth-driven reform and anti-imperialist resistance—an angle that has resonated strongly with audiences across Africa.
