Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has revealed how a dangerous movie stunt nearly caused him a serious neck injury about 15 years ago.

Lilwin said the incident happened while he was playing the role of an armed robber and was asked to jump from a storey building because the production did not have a professional stunt performer available.

Speaking in a video shared on social media, the actor explained that the stunt was filmed using three cameras positioned at different angles. He said he completed the first jump safely, but was later instructed to repeat it after one of the cameras failed to capture the scene properly.

It was during the second jump that the situation became dangerous.

Lilwin said he did not notice a wire in his path, and his leg caught on it as he jumped. The obstruction affected his landing and left him at risk of falling on his neck.

He said he managed to land on his feet, although the impact caused significant pain and badly affected his leg.

According to Lilwin, the stunt should have been performed by a trained professional rather than the actor himself. He said a stunt performer could have handled the dangerous jump before he was brought into the scene for the remaining shots.

“I jumped for the first time and landed safely, but there were three cameras, and they told me that one of them had failed to capture the moment, so I had to jump again. The second time I jumped, there was a wire I hadn’t noticed, and I tripped over it. I could have landed on my neck, but because it wasn’t my time to die, I somehow managed to land awkwardly on my feet. The impact hurt badly,” he recounted.

Despite the injury, Lilwin said he travelled to Techiman later that same day to perform at a scheduled event.

The actor explained that he was in severe pain but decided to honour the engagement instead of cancelling. According to him, the event organiser insisted that he appear because fans wanted to see him and establish for themselves that he had actually been injured.
