Media personality Kwame Dadzie has expressed concerns about how Ghana is sold to foreigners, especially when it comes to music and entertainment.

Speaking on his “Daybreak Hitz” show, co-hosted by Doreen Avio, the gentleman complained bitterly about how too many foreign artistes dominate Ghanaian concerts.

According to him, in as much as there is nothing wrong with inviting Nigerian artistes to perform at Ghanaian concerts, it also doesn’t mean that they should dominate it.

Ghana remains number one December destination in West Africa – Abeiku Santana

“If GTA, you’re doing a concert and we have four Ghanaian musicians and three Nigerian musicians. We are not saying we can’t invite foreign musicians to come and join us, but if are doing this and we are bringing three, does it mean we don’t have Ghanian musicians of that magnitude to also come on board and join in the concert?” he said.

He also added that Ghana, being the gateway to Africa, doesn’t mean events in the country should have its stages flooded with foreign artistes when most local acts do not have a slot.

“Are we saying that according to Abeiku Santana, we are the gateway to Africa, so we open the gateway like that to flood or stages like that with foreign musicians when most of our musicians are not getting the platform to perform. I think that as Ghanaians, when we are doing things like this, even though we want to bring people from other countries, we should think about ourselves first. As much as we are encouraging partnership, let’s be selfish about Ghana and how we push Ghana”.

Doreen Avio added, “we are not saying they shouldn’t come, but when they become too many, then it becomes very uncomfortable. If just one show, we have three Nigerians headlining that concert with equal sort of rights with Ghanaian musicians, then it becomes very uncomfortable”.
