Kamal-Deen Abdullai, Deputy Communication Director of the NPP Kamal-Deen Abdullai, Deputy Communication Director of the NPP

The Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kamal-Deen Abdullai, has expressed concerns about the party’s internal dynamics, specifically referencing the “Thank You Tour” becoming a convention for party flagbearers.

Abdullai emphasised the need for a council of elders to ensure internal democracy prevails within the party.

“We have Council of Elders to make sure internal democracy prevails,” he stated.

He said this on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on May 2, 2025, and monitored by GhanaWeb, during which he highlighted the importance of maintaining party unity and democratic processes, particularly in the lead-up to key events or elections.

“Those who are not supposed to talk are talking. The Thank You Tour has become a convention for our flagbearers,” he indicated.

Abdullai also disclosed that a more structured approach to party governance, potentially to prevent internal conflicts and promote cohesion among members will make the party more appealing.

He acknowledged that the party has suffered a significant defeat, emphasising the need for introspection and collective problem-solving.

Abdullai further stressed that the party must come together to address the issues that led to the loss, adhering to its governing laws and regulations.

“It is not only the NPP that has suffered defeat. We have suffered a very huge defeat which requires us to sit and resolve it through the laws that govern the party,” he said.
