Ghanaian comedian, DKB has jumped to the defense of Sammy Gyamfi

Ghanaian comedian, DKB, has called on critics to refrain from lambasting the NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, over a viral video in which he was seen handing dollar bills to Agradaa.

In a video shared on X on May 12, 2025, DKB noted that the politician didn’t do anything wrong in gifting Agradaa.

He emphasised that public officeholders have done worst things while in power, yet they were not held accountable for their actions, therefore, netizens criticising the politician should cut him some slack.

“Cut Sammy Gyamfi some slack. He didn’t go and steal or do anything bad. He was just gifting, moreover, he had no bad intentions. In fact, people who have done worse things in this country are walking free and enjoying their peace of mind,” he said.

He further argued that much of the criticisms directed at Sammy Gyamfi stem from the fact that the money was given to Nana Agradaa, an individual widely perceived as living an opulent lifestyle and known for making disparaging remarks about the president, which has further fueled public disapproval of Gyamfi’s actions.

“The main reason people are angry is not because Sammy gave the dollar to anybody. It is because it was Agradaa and the fact that he associated with her. We were here and witnessed what she did to John Mahama’s name, desecrating it and saying stuffs like ‘he wasn’t coming to power’ and all those negative stuffs so it hurts the NDC people to see Sammy Gyamfi giving money out to such a person,” he added.

The comedian also weighed in on the controversy, suggesting that the public outrage and criticisms surrounding the issue would not have been as intense if the recipient of the money had been someone other than Agradaa.
