Lawrence Ati-Zigi celebrated his 250th appearance for FC St. Gallen in memorable fashion after helping the club secure a crucial 2-1 away victory over FC Lugano in the Swiss League playoffs on Sunday.

The 29-year-old once again proved his importance to the Swiss side with a brilliant performance between the posts as St. Gallen picked up a vital result away from home.

Ati-Zigi, who joined the Espen in early 2020, has now spent six years at the club and has grown into one of the team’s most reliable and experienced players at the Kybunpark.

The stalwart goalie started and completed the entire game, but his biggest moment came deep into stoppage time when he denied North Macedonian international Ezgjan Alioski from the penalty spot in the 98th minute to preserve the win for St. Gallen.

The Black Stars goalkeeper has made 33 appearances across all competitions this season, conceding 43 goals while keeping eight clean sheets for the Swiss outfit.

Ati-Zigi’s milestone appearance further highlights his consistency and longevity at the club, having now played 250 matches for St. Gallen while conceding 365 goals and recording 49 clean sheets.

The experienced shot-stopper is also expected to be part of Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
