Caleb Ekuban Ansah was the hero for Genoa after scoring a late winner in their 2-1 victory over Sassuolo at the Estadio Luigi Ferraris in Serie A round 32 clash.
The Italian-born Ghanaian forward struck with just six minutes left on the clock to seal all three points for the Red-Blues in a closely contested encounter.
Genoa had taken the lead through Ukrainian international Ruslan Malinovskyi, but Sassuolo responded in the second half with an equalizer from Ismaël Koné to set up a tense finish.
Ekuban, however, stepped up when it mattered most, finding the decisive goal to secure the win and underline his importance to the team.
The 32-year-old now has four goals and one assist in 26 league appearances this season, continuing to play a key role for Genoa.
The victory lifts Genoa to 14th place with 36 points, as they turn attention to their next fixture away to Pisa.
