    A former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has stated that the alleged raid on his home left his domestic staff traumatised.

    Describing the incident as distressing, he added that his staff are suffering from severe shock.

    This was contained in a lawsuit filed at the High Court of Justice in Accra against DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah for allegedly trespassing on private property and violating the right to privacy.

    The writ argued that the raid violated the privacy of the residence’s occupants, noting that the operatives who stormed the house presented no warrant authorising them to conduct the search.

    According to the statement of claim, Ofori-Atta was out of the country for medical treatment at the time of the incident.

    His domestic staff reported that a team of 12 individuals, including the two defendants, nine military personnel armed with assault rifles, and several plainclothes officers, entered the property without prior notice or consent.

    The operatives reportedly searched multiple areas of the premises, including bedrooms, the kitchen, and closets.

    The former minister claims that the actions of the defendants and their team were unlawful, violating his privacy and property rights.

    He further stated that the raid, which attracted both national and international attention, subjected him to public ridicule and tarnished his reputation.

    Ofori-Atta noted that all efforts to reach the National Intelligence Bureau, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Inspector General of Police for clarification on the raid’s legitimacy have been unsuccessful.

    He is seeking damages for the distress and loss incurred, as well as a court order restraining the defendants from further interference with his property and privacy rights. Additionally, he is demanding compensation for what he describes as unlawful actions.
