    The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has condemned the attack on soldiers of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) by an angry mob.

    According to a statement issued by the Media Relations Officer of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, the minister has engaged the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and the Minister of the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, over the incident that occurred during an operation at Bronikrom, near Hwediem in the Ahafo Region.

    He indicated that the minister’s discussions with both parties were aimed at initiating comprehensive and thorough investigations into the incident.

    This was made known in a statement dated Monday, November 3, 2025, saying, “… Having been adequately briefed on the matter, the Minister strongly. condemns the incident, which occurred on Saturday, 1st November 2025.

    “Subsequently, the Minister has held meetings with the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister for the Interior for the conduct of swift and rigorous investigations into the unfortunate circumstances.”

    The statement further noted that the minister’s call for investigations into the matter is in line with the government’s commitment to fighting galamsey.

    It added that anyone found culpable of engaging in or aiding galamsey will be dealt with accordingly.

    “This is in line with the government’s commitment to bring to book all perpetrators who aid, support, or front the continuous decimation of the environment,” the statement added.
