Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal made two assists to aid FC Barcelona in edging past Real Madrid by 3-2 in the 2025 Copa del Rey finals on April 26, 2025.

The Catalans started the game with strong intensity, pressing Madrid, and Yamal took on the opponent’s defenders and passed the ball to Pedri, who blasted the ball into the top left corner of the post to score the opener in the 28th minute.

Barcelona dominated the game in the entire first half, recording 63% possession, as Real Madrid struggled to contain and match up to the game’s intensity.

In the second half, Kylian Mbappe, who was introduced into the game from the bench, scored a direct free kick in the 70th minute to level the scoreline.

France international Tchouaméni doubled Madrid’s lead with a header from a corner kick to give them the lead.

Barcelona upped their performance afterward, as Yamal made a second assist to help Ferran Torres score the equaliser, sending the game to extra time.

Defender Jules Koundé took a long shot outside the box, and it went past goalkeeper Courtois to seal a 3-2 win over their fierce rivals and win the trophy.

Three of Los Blancos’ players, Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rüdiger, and Lucas Vázquez, were shown a red card for misconduct after trying to confront the center referee after the game.

Madrid are on the brink of going trophyless in the 2024/2025 season after being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and trailing Barcelona by four points in La Liga.
