Barcelona teenage musician Lamine Yamal has finally had the opportunity to meet his idol Neymar as he spends his off-season holiday in Brazil.
In videos shared on social media, the pair were seen enjoying their time together, playing footvolley, riding around in a golf buggy, and relaxing by a swimming pool.
The 17-year-old has been spending time in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where he also met surfing world champion Gabriel Medina.
Yamal is on a well-deserved break after a long season with club and country. His campaign ended with Spain’s defeat to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League final on June 8.
With Barcelona not qualifying for the Club World Cup, the youngster has the summer off.
Neymar, 33, is also enjoying a break due to the pause in the Brasileiro during the Club World Cup. The former Barcelona forward is currently back in Brazil playing for his boyhood club, Santos.
Yamal was only six years old when Neymar joined Barcelona from Santos. While the Spanish international has named Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer of all time, he has often expressed admiration for Neymar’s unique style.
“I was seven when I first saw him play in person at Camp Nou, and it was incredible to see him. It’s true that Messi was there, who was also incredible, but Neymar was something totally different. He has always been my idol. He’s a star, a football legend,” Yamal told CNN earlier this year.
Yamal is enjoying some time off following a stellar season with Barcelona. He scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 appearances, helping the team to win the LaLiga title, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa.
