The Lagos State Police Command has denied involvement in the arrest of Samuel, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, clarifying that the operation was carried out by officers from Abuja.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the arrest was conducted by police operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who presented a valid arrest warrant.

“Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command did not arrest the individual in question. The officers who effected the arrest came from Abuja with a duly signed arrest warrant. The suspect was only held briefly at the Ogombo Police Division due to the late hour before being transferred for further procedural action.” Adebisi explained.

The clarification follows widespread social media claims suggesting that Lagos police detained Samuel amid a growing dispute between his family and Senator Ned Nwoko, Regina’s husband.

Earlier, Lawrence Daniels, Regina’s elder brother, had accused Nwoko of harassment, warning that the senator should be held responsible if anything happened to their family.

As of the time of this report, the FCT Police Command had yet to issue an official statement regarding the reasons for Samuel Daniels’ arrest.

The Lagos Command emphasized that it provided only temporary support and was not involved in the investigation or in the charges against Daniels.
