Revered sports journalist Saddick Adams has blamed the struggles of Ghana football on the lack of strategic planning by authorities.

According to him, the Black Stars, in particular, have had inconsistent performances in recent times despite hiring coaches like Chris Hughton and Otto Addo, who is currently handling the team.

The Angel FM sports journalist indicated that coaching is not the problem for the team but rather improper planning and poor management of the talent pool, which negatively impacts the team’s performance.

Speaking on Sports Check on GhanaWeb TV, Saddick Adams called for prudent measures to be put in place in terms of long-term planning.

“The problem is that what’s the definition of a top-class coach? I would think that Chris Hughton in this context is a top-class coach. Any coach who has coached in the Premier League is a top-class coach. We have gone for mediocre, we have gone for top-class coaches. None of them is working, so you cannot attribute it to coaching.

“It is purely managerial and a lack of a talent pool that we have to build into the team. We have the talent but lack the organisation and planning to utilise them because the coaches will only add the managerial aspect of it. Managing the players’ egos, managing their lifestyle, managing what they do, and tactics count,” he said.

Meanwhile, eight players have withdrawn from the squad for Angola, Niger games. These include Antoine Semenyo, Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams, Osman Ibrahim, Jereme Opoku, Alexander Djiku, and Jonas Adjetey.

This comes as a big blow for the Black Stars as they aim to win against Niger and Angola and hope Sudan lose their remaining matches to secure qualification.

After four matches, Ghana are third in Group F with two points. Sudan are in second place with seven points, while Angola lead with twelve points.

Ghana will play Angola on November 15, 2024, and return to host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024.
