Berekum Chelsea’s teenage sensation Kwesi Sorotu is quickly proving why he’s the engine that drives the club’s midfield.

At just 17 years old, the dynamic midfielder has been a shining light in what has been a tough start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign for the Berekum-based side.

Sorotu’s maturity and consistency at such a young age have earned him widespread admiration.

Last season, he started 28 of Chelsea’s 34 league games, showcasing a blend of tireless energy, defensive awareness, and technical precision that belied his age.

His playing style built on power, precision, and relentless drive has even drawn early comparisons to Ghanaian legend Michael Essien.

This season, Sorotu has taken his game to another level. In just six matches, he has already claimed two Man of the Match (MVP) awards, underscoring his growing dominance in midfield.

His first came in the 2-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars, where his energy and creativity inspired Chelsea’s first win of the campaign.

He followed it up with another commanding display against Hearts of Oak, standing toe-to-toe with experienced midfielders Hussein and Dwamena, even though Chelsea fell 2-0 on Matchday 6.

So far, Sorotu has logged 450 minutes in five appearances, scoring once, a vital goal that secured a 1-1 draw away to Karela United. His performances have not only drawn praise from fans and pundits alike but have also cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young midfielders in the Ghana Premier League.

Despite reported interest from clubs across Africa, Sorotu remains focused on his growth and has committed to another season with Berekum Chelsea, determined to continue his development and help his team climb the league standings.
