Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah has expressed confidence about his side qualifying from their group to the next round of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Since taking charge, Appiah has overseen a remarkable upward trajectory for the Falcons of Jediane, instilling belief, discipline, and renewed ambition within the squad.

As Sudan prepare for their opening game against Algeria today at the Stade Moulay Hassan, the focus is firmly on making a strong statement and writing a new chapter in the nation’s football history.

Speaking to CAFOnline, Appiah opens up about Sudan’s ambitions, the dreams driving his squad, and the collective resolve as they begin their campaign.

“Sudan is well prepared for the competition, and we hope to present ourselves in the best possible way during the finals,” he said.

Accessing their group opponents, the former Ghana coach said, “We are in a strong group with Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso. Sudan is also a good team, and I am confident that we will progress beyond the group stage in this tournament.”

Sudan head into the tournament after competing at the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar.
