Real Oviedo have officially been relegated from La Liga following a goalless draw against Getafe CF in round 35 fixture on Sunday, May 10.

The match at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere was a chaotic affair, with the home side finishing the game with ten men but still managing to avoid defeat.

After a tense first half ended without goals, Javi Lopez was sent off in the 54th minute after a dangerous challenge, leaving Oviedo with a numerical disadvantage for the remainder of the match.

Twenty-four minutes later, Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo was also shown a red card following a VAR review after a harsh tackle on an opposition attacker.

The result confirms the Blues’ relegation back to LaLiga II, with the Blues remaining bottom of the table on 29 points with only three matches left to play this season.

Despite the disappointing outcome with his club, Kwasi Sibo will still be hoping to impress enough to secure a place in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.
