The Head of Sporting Affairs for Asante Kotoko, Kwasi Appiah, has emphasized the importance of maintaining composure ahead of the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak.

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the two most successful teams in Ghana will go head-to-head for bragging rights and three crucial points in the first Super Clash of the 2024/25 season at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

With so much at stake, Appiah, in an interview with Ghanasportspage, urged Kotoko players to remain calm, acknowledging the tension surrounding the game while stressing the need to handle the pressure effectively.

“There is always tension whenever it is Kotoko and Hearts of Oak. The tension affects the management, supporters, and players. But how you control the tension makes a big difference most of the time,” Appiah said.

The current Sudan national team coach, who also serves as the Head of Sporting Affairs for Asante Kotoko, noted that many players tend to struggle under the euphoria and excitement surrounding the game. He was quick to offer advice on how they could perform well despite the pressure.

“Especially for the players, when you allow too much pressure to overcome you, it affects your ability to receive the ball or make passes. I urge them to relax and approach the match calmly, as you can only play your best when you are composed,” he added.

Asante Kotoko, with 18 points, and Hearts of Oak, with 19 points, are currently seventh and sixth, respectively, in the Ghana Premier League.
