Kaywa is a record producer and CEO of Highly Spiritual Music

Record producer and CEO of Highly Spiritual Music, Kaywa, has disclosed that his former signee, Kurl Songx, left his record label in 2019 without giving any formal notice.

In an interview with Hitz FM on July 17, 2025, Kaywa explained that Kurl Songx’s decision to leave the label came at a time when tensions had built up within the label.

He believes the singer left because he thought he had found a better opportunity elsewhere, and was also influenced by people around him, including fans and some media personalities.

“He left because I think there were maybe other opportunities out there for him. It was not on a good note. There were back and forths. I remember he had an issue with even the artistes on the label too. I’m not sure, there’s any record label that says that I’m signing just you this artiste and nobody else comes on the label again,” Kaywa stated.

He further explained that one of the challenges with managing multiple artistes is that some of them may begin to feel left out.

According to him, outside voices fuelled Kurl Songx feeling, making him feel like he was not a priority.

“You see that feeling like once you’re in there and then you’re feeling the attention is not on me. The pressure and usually the fans can cause this; not only the fans but media personalities as well. They will tell you, ‘Leave him, he’s wasting your time. I mean, now they’re projecting other artists.’ So, all these things come to play. And so, like I said, when he wanted to leave, I didn’t say anything. In fact, his exit was not communicated,” he said.

Kaywa also disclosed that Kurl Songx has now returned to him. He shared that the artiste came back and apologised for how he handled his exit, and as someone who believes in second chances, he forgave him and took him back.

“I’m saying this because, now, as I speak with you, he’s back with me. He’s like, he’s one faithful guy right now. He came apologising and I said, ‘Listen, we all make mistakes,’” he added.
