Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has suffered a fresh injury setback, casting doubt over his availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Ghana.

Kudus has been out of action since January after sustaining an injury during Spurs’ 1-1 Premier League draw against Sunderland. Initial hopes of a swift recovery have now faded following his absence from early training sessions under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

In a statement, the club revealed that the forward’s condition may be more serious than previously thought, with further medical assessment required.

“We can confirm that Mohammed Kudus has suffered a setback in his return from injury. He had recently resumed team training but will now undergo further specialist review and could require surgery,” the statement read.

The setback is a significant blow for Tottenham, who are currently 17th in the Premier League standings and battling to avoid relegation, with Kudus considered a key player in their survival push.

It also raises concerns for Ghana ahead of the World Cup, where the Black Stars face a challenging group including England, Croatia and Panama, with Kudus expected to play a crucial role.
