Former CEO of Great Olympics, Kudjoe Fianoo, has opened up on his decision to step down from the club, revealing that his resignation was largely due to the fact that only one person was taking major decisions.

His exit was followed by that of General Manager Eric Alagidede, who previously worked with Karela United and Nsoatreman FC, deepening the administrative crisis within the club.

The duo, regarded as part of the most respected football administrators in the country, took charge of the ‘Dade’ outfit ahead of the current season.

Many fans and pundits were optimistic that their experience would help guide the team back to the Ghana Premier League but things did not go as expected, with internal challenges affecting the smooth running of the club.

Speaking on Sporty Drive on Sporty FM, the former GHALCA chairman explained that lack of collective decision-making made the work very difficult and is the main reason behind his resignation.

“I went to Great Olympics with clear mind but even with my experience I hadn’t worked in such purely traditional set-up where one person calls the shots.

“When I realized my best was not bringing results and the frustration set in, I decided to leave.”

Their departure has left a huge void in the club’s leadership, as Great Olympics continue to struggle for consistency in the ongoing campaign. The team is currently 12th on the Access Bank Division One League table with 22 points after 19 matches.

They will next host fourth-placed Attram De Visser Academy this Sunday, February 22, as they aim to stabilize their season despite the off-field setbacks.
