Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams has admitted the Black Stars are not fully prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but remains optimistic about the team’s chances of making a strong impact at the tournament.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Adams acknowledged key gaps in the team’s preparations, including the absence of a substantive head coach. He noted that while Ghana is not yet ready, he is confident the situation will improve before their opening match against Panama national football team.

“If I tell you we are ready, it won’t be accurate because we don’t even have a head coach. That means we are not fully ready yet. But I believe we will be ready by the time we play our first game,” he said.

Despite the concerns, Adams expressed belief in the squad’s potential, insisting Ghana has what it takes to compete at the highest level. He admitted the current team may lack long-term cohesion compared to previous generations but maintained that expectations should remain high.

The minister added that Ghana could go far in the tournament, and even suggested the possibility of winning the World Cup.
