Ghanaian artiste, Kuami Eugene has waded into the controversy surrounding rapper and former University of Ghana SRC President Guru, who is facing public backlash after the Miss University of Ghana 2025 winner accused him of presenting her with a faulty car as a prize.
Wading in the ongoing conversation, Kuami Eugene, in a jab shared on social media, quoted lyrics from Guru’s hit song ‘Lapaz Toyota’, stating, “Odo mede car no bɛma wo, heibaa!”
Kuami Eugene’s jabs at Guru over the allegedly dilapidated prize vehicle have sparked online reactions, with many netizens criticising him for seemingly reigniting their long-standing feud.

Background
The controversy erupted when the Miss UG winner, Jasmine Saaka, released a video showing the black Toyota Vitz she was given as part of her pageant prizes.
She claimed the car, which was supposed to be brand new, was essentially immobile and riddled with issues.
She cited a faulty engine, multiple loose interior fittings, broken compartments, and missing components, prompting her to abandon it at the campus car park.
Guru, responding in a circulating video, dismissed her claims and even poked fun at her “90-year-old car” allegation.
He further argued that genuinely ‘new’ cars are rare in Ghana and insisted the vehicle was functional when presented.
Kuami Eugene’s involvement comes amid his long-running feud with Guru.

Their tensions started in 2021 when Guru dropped the diss track ‘Who Born Dog’ after Eugene publicly stated he would never collaborate with him because the rapper had “disrespected” Lynx Entertainment CEO Richie Mensah.
Guru debunked claims that he sought collaboration after previous disagreements and clarified that this situation wasn’t about him versus anyone’s boss but rather a matter within the industry.
