KUMASI Asante Kotoko put up an inspiring performance but failed to break a stubborn Vision FC side that was reduced to 10-men as they shared the points in a goalless Ghana Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, yesterday.

Despite enjoying the lion’s share of the exchanges, Kotoko conceded the best chances as the visitors absorbed the pressure and showed their attacking intent when the opportunity came.

Vision FC were unlucky not to pluck the leader on two occasions in the first quarter of the game as they wasted some of the few chances they created.

Mohammed Awudu became the sacrificial lamb when already on a yellow card, he decided to illegally foil a threatening move from Kotoko in the 69th minute of the game. The referee took the easiest decision to expel him with a second yellow card. That handed the Porcupine Warriors a huge advantage with about 20 minutes to go.

But the visitors changed their game plan, choosing to sit deeper to ward off any threat from the home team that was cheered on by the sparse crowd in attendance.

Kotoko from this stage dictated play and created chances but failed to find the back of the net. At this stage, it became a battle between Kotoko and goalkeeper Godwin Ametefe, who continuously denied Kotoko the goals as he pulled off magnificent saves.

At Hohoe, Hohoe United boosted their survival hopes in the competition with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Samartex 1996 yesterday.
