Asante Kotoko have reportedly initiated talks with Maxwell Konadu over a potential return as head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season, following a series of managerial changes at the club.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently searching for a new head trainer after the resignation of Karim Zito. His exit was quickly followed by another setback, as interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu also stepped down from his position, leaving the club in need of stability in the dugout.

In the meantime, youth team coach Abdul Gazale has been tasked with leading the team on an interim basis until the end of the current campaign.

Reports suggest that Kotoko’s management is carefully evaluating its options for a permanent appointment, with Konadu emerging as a strong contender. The current Ghana U-20 head coach has previously managed the club in two separate spells and is now being considered for a possible third stint.

Sources indicate that the club’s three-member board is debating between hiring an expatriate coach or opting for Konadu, who is viewed as the leading local candidate and is reportedly open to a return.
