Mohamed Camara has been handed a five-match suspension and fined GHS 20,000 by the Disciplinary Committee following misconduct during a Ghana Premier League fixture involving Asante Kotoko SC and Karela United FC.
The committee found the goalkeeper guilty of unsporting behaviour after he assaulted the match referee at the end of the game. The incident, which occurred after the final whistle, was reviewed as part of disciplinary proceedings, leading to a strong sanction against the Kotoko shot-stopper.
According to the ruling, the five-match ban takes immediate effect, ruling Camara out of upcoming fixtures as his side continues its campaign. In addition, he has been ordered to pay the GHS 20,000 fine within 14 days of receiving official notification.
The Disciplinary Committee also issued a formal warning to the player, stressing that any future misconduct will result in more severe punishment.
The decision reflects the Ghana Football Association’s firm stance on indiscipline, particularly incidents involving match officials, as efforts continue to uphold professionalism and respect within the domestic league.
