Asante Kotoko have confirmed the passing of a staunch fan who tragically died after watching the club’s victory over Bibiani Gold Stars on Friday, December 27, 2024.

According to a statement released by the club, the fan, identified as Nicholas Osei Boakye, passed away in a motor accident on his way home from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Reds also expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased, who was 37 years old.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of one of our loyal fans, Nicholas Osei Boakye, a 37-year-old resident of Mpasatia, who tragically lost his life in a motor accident near Abuakwa after our GPL Week 15 match against Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium last night.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Nick,” the club wrote on X.

Kotoko secured a victory in the last game Osei Boakye watched, defeating Bibiani Gold Stars 2-0 to climb to second place on the Ghana Premier League table.
