Asante Kotoko’s interim coach Prince Owusu has called on the teeming supporters to remain hopeful despite the club’s recent struggles ahead of their Ghana Premier League clash against regional rivals Nations FC.

The Porcupine Warriors will face their city rivals at the Baba Yara Stadium this Sunday,March 22, at 15:00GMT (3:00pm), looking to turn around a poor run of form.

The Reds have astonishingly, managed just a win in their last six matches in all competitions, a 2-0 victory away at Young Apostles FC in round 23, and are heading into this fixture on the back of a painful 1-0 defeat to Karela United in Tamale, where Malik Abubakar scored the decisive goal.

They currently sit fifth on the table with 39 points and are yet to record a league victory against Nations FC, adding more pressure ahead of the encounter.

The ex- Black Satellites coach however, remains optimistic and believes his side can bounce back. “I don’t blame them for giving up,” he said. “But I want to tell them there is still hope, and we are ready to turn things around.”

“Where we are in the league now is not where we will finish. We are going to rise and we want our fans to stay with us until we get there so we can celebrate together,” he added.

Kotoko will now be aiming to back their coach’s words with a strong performance as they seek to end their poor run and finally secure a first league win over Nations FC.
