Asante Kotoko interim coach, Prince Yaw Owusu has admitted the painful defeat to their bitter rivals Hearts of Oak has thrown a huge dent to their league winning hopes and will have patch up all cracks as soon as possible heading into their remaining matches.

The ‘Phobians’ played the last sixty-five minutes plus additional time of the game with ten men but still managed to edge the ‘Kum Apem’ lads by a slim 1-0 in a very epic GPL match-day 22 clash.

The game got off to a very explosive start at the Baba Yara Stadium but it was center-back Baba Adamu’s lone goal in the 14th minute that made the difference between both sides after full-time.

The Rainbow Club were reduced to ten men in the 25th minute following Emmanuel Amankwah’s red card after a nasty second yellow card challenge on Saaka Dauda.

In a post-match presser, the experienced coach insisted there was nothing wrong with his system and approach to the game but rather it was just one mistake that caused everything.

He further said there defeat will make things extremely difficult for them from henceforth.

“This will make the season a very difficult one for us. The boys fought but it wasn’t enough. We got our chances but couldn’t take it.”

“We told the boys to use the flanks at certain point that’s why we had two strikers upfront. It was working initially but the players began to panic in the latter part of the game. Dogo is someone who is able to put pressure on defenders but I didn’t see much of him.

“It’s just one mistake that caught us. Camara should have done something about the goal based on where he were but couldn’t. So I feel it wasn’t the system that made us lose but rather a mistake”, he landed

Asante Kotoko remain in fifth place with 35 points after the loss and are currently on a three-game winless run in all competitions and will come all out to seek redemption when they travel to Wenchi next to play Young Apostles.
