Asante Kotoko captain, Samba O’Neil

Asante Kotoko captain, Samba O’Neil has apologised to the fans following their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors’ hopes of making it to the group phase of the competition were crashed after suffering a 6-1 aggregate defeat against Wydad Athletic Club.

Kotoko suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round of the preliminary round of games before losing 5-1 in the return leg in Casablanca.

After the elimination, O’Neil apologised to fans of the club, assuring them that they will fight to win the Premier League and FA Cup titles.

“It is difficult to take, but we apologise to our fans,” he said.

“We need to keep our heads up and win both the league and the FA Cup to compensate for this loss,” the Congolese defender added.
