Ghanaian music legend Kojo Antwi, affectionately known as Mr Music Man, delivered a touching performance at the funeral reception of his beloved mother, Madam Mary Adwoa Nyamaa, in Obo, Kwahu, in the Eastern Region.

The solemn yet celebratory ceremony took place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, as Kojo Antwi and his family laid their 100-year-old matriarch to rest. Madam Nyamaa passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Mpraeso General Hospital, also in the Eastern Region.

Heartfelt tributes and cultural displays marked the funeral.

Still, the highlight of the evening came when Kojo Antwi took the microphone and performed his soul-stirring classic, ‘Bre Bre Anowaa’, a song he previously revealed was inspired by his mother’s life, strength, and sacrifices.

In a prior Instagram post announcing the burial date, Kojo Antwi paid homage to his late mother, writing:

“This weekend, we gather in Obo, Kwahu, not just to mourn but to celebrate the life of my remarkable mother, who lived a full century.
A hundred years of grace, strength, and love. Rest well, Mama.”

The emotionally charged performance of Bre Bre Anowaa resonated deeply with mourners, many of whom were visibly moved.

The legendary musician’s voice cracked with emotion as he serenaded the crowd, celebrating the extraordinary life of the woman who raised him and served as a muse for his artistry.
