Kofi Owusu Peprah has established that ministry is about spreading the message of Christ and not about making money.

The gospel singer who walked away from his career at the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to dedicate himself fully to the gospel ministry said musicians should focus on their purpose rather than how much they are being paid when invited to perform.

I had to choose between my job at NIB and my music career – Kofi Owusu Peprah

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kofi Owusu Peprah explained that music in service to God is not something to be merely reduced to money.

“We have not been called to make money out of it. My plea is that as Christians, we shouldn’t be so set on how much one should be paid at a function. A number of things come into play. It is not a one-size-fits-all affair.

“For instance, you need to consider the size of the church among others. Let’s not be so strict; it’s not cast in stone. If you had to put a charge on the message of the cross, how much would it be? You can’t put a price on the cross,” he said.

He mentioned that while churches may offer honorariums or tokens of appreciation, Christians should not approach invitations with a fixed charge in mind.

He also cautioned Gospel artistes against competing with each other.

Kofi Peprah also noted that their mission is bigger than fame, as all gospel musicians share the same responsibility of delivering one central message; salvation through Jesus Christ.

“As Gospel musicians, we need to turn a blind eye to competition because we are on the same mission of the great commission. At the end of the day, we carry one message which is the salvation of Jesus Christ,” he added.
