Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has weighed in on the potential return of Andre Ayew to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports, the Minister acknowledged growing public interest in the experienced forward’s possible recall but stressed that the final decision rests with the national team’s technical handlers.

“Fortunately, I’m the minister. Unfortunately, I’m not the coach. The coach has the final say on this; if they include him, why not? I won’t be surprised,” he stated.

Ayew, a former captain of the Black Stars, has remained a key figure in Ghanaian football over the years, with his leadership and experience often highlighted in discussions about the team’s future.

With Ghana preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, debates over squad selection are expected to intensify, particularly regarding the inclusion of experienced players alongside emerging talents.
