The government of Ghana, led by President John Dramani Mahama, has appointed Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) as the new Special Envoy to the Caribbean Region for Ghana.

According to a report by citinewsroom on Friday, November 14, 2025, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, a media personality with years of extensive experience, is expected to help strengthen Ghana’s ties and international relations with Caribbean nations.

His appointment as an envoy comes at a crucial time, as Ghana seeks to maintain and strengthen cordial ties with Caribbean countries such as Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados, among others.

Highlighting the importance of KKD’s role to the country, the report added that his appointment is central to Ghana’s broader foreign policy drive.

The policy drive includes expanding trade and investment opportunities, promoting Ghanaian culture globally, and engaging Caribbean partners on shared development challenges.

With these regions linked by deep historical, cultural, and ancestral connections, KKD has the task of ensuring that existing gaps are bridged and strong relationships are fostered.

KKD is known for his background and expertise as a Ghanaian broadcaster and as a media, culture, and tourism expert.
