Award-winning Ghanaian musician KiDi has voiced his dissatisfaction with the current state of beaches in Accra, urging authorities to prioritise their maintenance to boost tourism and improve recreational experiences.

Speaking during an interview on Woezor TV, the “Touch It” hitmaker expressed his love for beach outings but lamented that the poor condition of Accra’s beaches makes them unattractive to both locals and visitors.

“Unfortunately, the Accra beaches… as a country, we need to do better,” KiDi said.

“No, for real. We need to do better with our beaches, ’cause when you travel, don’t even go far, our fellow African countries, some of them have kept the beaches. That’s why people go there for tourism and things.”

KiDi warned that Ghana is missing out on major tourism opportunities because of the state of its coastal areas.

He stressed that the country could emulate examples from other African nations where beaches are well-maintained and marketed as key tourist attractions.

The singer also highlighted the need for improved hygiene, safety, and infrastructure at the nation’s beaches to make them more appealing to the public.

“I think if we are able to… I don’t know if we’ll be able to, but we need to do better with our beaches,” he reiterated.

His comments add to a growing public conversation about the poor environmental management of Ghana’s coastal areas, particularly in Accra, where litter, poor sanitation, and a lack of facilities remain pressing concerns.
