Ghanaian rapper Keeny Ice, born Barnabas Amu, has made a bold claim about his place in the rap hierarchy in Ghana.

The interview, which served as part of a promotional tour for his latest album “Ice Cold” released on May 30, 2025, saw DJ Slim putting the rapper on the spot to name his top five rappers currently holding it down in Ghana.

Without blinking, Keeny Ice responded with clarity and conviction placed Lyrical Joe above himself.

He explained that Lyrical Joe being ahead of him is simply because he has consistently put in serious work, not just lyrically but with his delivery, consistency, and growth over the years.

In addition to Lyrical Joe, Keeny Ice mentioned three other rappers who he believes are currently representing Ghanaian rap in a strong way, Kwaku Smoke, Bessy Boy and Kwesi Amewuga.

He described them as young talents whose energy and creativity continue to shape the future of hip-hop in the country.

The interview also dived into the creative process behind “Ice Cold” , his first full-length album which dropped under his management label ABM Global.

The 2025 release is a follow-up to his previous EPs “Border Vibes” (2021) and “Sound Check” (2022), and has been received with positive reviews from both fans and critics alike.
