Flagbearer hopeful Ken Ohene Agyapong has formed an Anti-Election Rigging Squad ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries slated for January 31, 2026.
The move comes in response to growing concerns among his supporters about the possibility of electoral malpractice during the contest.
Several opinion polls have consistently placed Mr Agyapong as the favourite in the race, heightening the stakes as the primaries draw closer.
The establishment of the squad is seen as a safeguarding initiative designed to protect the integrity of the process and ensure that the will of delegates is respected.

In recent weeks, a number of prophets and religious leaders have predicted a resounding victory for Mr Agyapong, provided the elections are conducted fairly.
Some, however, have cautioned that there could be attempts to manipulate the outcome, a concern that has fuelled the creation of the special response team.
Joojo Rocky Obeng, Director of Elections for Team Ken, confirmed the development in a video posted on his social media platforms. He explained that measures are being put in place to monitor the election process closely and respond swiftly to any signs of irregularities.
“We are fully prepared to prevent any attempt at rigging these elections,” Mr Obeng stated, emphasising that the squad would work within the confines of the law.

The decision has generated widespread discussion within party circles, with many viewing it as a proactive step towards safeguarding transparency in what is expected to be a fiercely contested primary.
Mr Agyapong’s camp maintains that the squad is not intended to intimidate but rather to guarantee a free and fair process, thereby upholding the credibility of both the primaries and the wider democratic process within the NPP.
