Southampton coach Ivan Jurić has shared an update on the fitness of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, revealing that the player is dealing with a hamstring issue.
Sulemana’s time at Southampton has been hampered by injuries, but after nearly three months on the sidelines, he returned to action, showing flashes of his immense potential.
However, just as the 22-year-old seemed to find his rhythm, Jurić confirmed in a pre-match press conference ahead of the Saints’ game against Newcastle that Sulemana may have suffered another setback.
“He won’t play against Newcastle as he has a little injury. It’s a minor problem with his hamstring, but our medical staff are worried because of his previous issues. I think (hopefully) it’s nothing serious, and from Monday, he’ll start training with the team,” Jurić said.
Sulemana this season, has made 11 Premier League appearances but is yet to register a goal or assist. He has, however, found the net in the FA Cup, offering a glimpse of what he can bring to the team when fully fit.
