Justice Blay, midfielder for Asane Kotoko

Asante Kotoko’s deputy captain, Justice Blay, has made a passionate appeal to the club’s fans, urging them to turn out in large numbers and rally behind the team as the second round of the league kicks off.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Karela United, Blay emphasized that a sizable crowd at the stadium serves as a significant motivator for the players, inspiring them to deliver consistently outstanding performances.

Reflecting on the first half of the season, the Kotoko veteran admitted that playing without the fans’ support had been a disheartening experience.

“It’s depressing. I remember when I first joined the club, I couldn’t believe what I saw in the tunnel. But things have changed now,” he said.

“I’m appealing to the fans to come to the stadium and support us. Some players perform better when they see fans in the stands.”

Asante Kotoko, fiercely determined to reclaim the Premier League title, are set to face off against Karela United at their home ground in Kumasi this Sunday. Blay revealed that the team is resolute in their quest for victory.

“We are determined to win. I have already told my teammates to step up because Karela always manages to get positive results in Kumasi. So we will approach the game with determination,” he added.

Asante Kotoko are currently third on the league table with 31 points after 17 games, while Karela United languish in the relegation zone with just 14 points from 17 matches.
