Asante Kotoko have successfully retained the services of their vice-captain, Justice Blay, with a contract extension that will keep the influential midfielder at the club until 2026.
Blay’s previous deal was set to expire in January 2025, but following fruitful negotiations, the Porcupine Warriors announced the extension on Thursday via their social media platforms.
“We are excited to announce that Vice-Captain Justice Blay has signed a new deal to stay with Asante Kotoko for an additional one and a half years,” the club’s statement read.
“This extension reflects Blay’s unwavering commitment to the club and his desire to help us achieve our goals.”
Blay initially joined Kotoko on loan during the 2019/2020 season from Medeama SC, making an immediate impact with two goals in 12 appearances.
His stellar performances earned him a permanent move in the 2021/2022 season. Since then, he has amassed 56 league appearances and has become an indispensable figure in midfield.
This season, the tenacious Blay has played in 12 out of 15 Ghana Premier League matches, scoring once. His leadership and consistency continue to endear him to fans.
By retaining Blay, Kotoko fortifies their midfield and ensures his experience and influence remain integral to the club’s ambitions.
