One year after the tragic passing of Nollywood actor Junior Pope, his widow, Jennifer Awele Odonwodo, has shared an emotional tribute honoring his memory.
It could be recalled that on April 10, 2024, fans and movie lovers in Nigeria and beyond were left in shock after news broke that Junior Pope died in a boat accident during a film shoot
In her first social media post since his death on April 10, 2025, Jennifer opened up about the profound impact of losing her husband and the struggles of raising their three sons, Jason, Jaden, and Jamon, without him.
“You have no idea how tough itβs been. Trying to stay strong for each other while the world around us feels shattered. The grief is still heavy, and the void you left can never be filled. But through it all, we look to heaven for strength as our guiding light,” she wrote.
Reflecting on the pain of loss, she added, “Oh death, youβve taught us to live each day as it comes, bearing a pain that never truly fades.”
“Your love surrounds us, your laughter echoes in our hearts, and we feel your presence in the quiet moments when we miss you most.
βI still donβt have the right words to respond to Jason and Jaden wanting to know if Daddy will fulfill his promise of taking them to a football academy.
They said, βDaddy told them he wouldnβt miss it for anything in the world.β Then the littlest one, Jamon (J Papa, as daddy fondly called him), keeps asking when Daddy is bringing the big toy car he promised,” she shared.
Despite the heartache, Jennifer expressed deep gratitude to those who have supported her family over the past year.
“To our beloved, you didnβt just leave usβyou left behind countless others who loved you and your work. Though youβre no longer here, you live on in every memory, every smile, and every tear. We will carry you with us alwaysβ¦ until we meet again,β she added.
She ended her tribute with a message of faith: “We cannot question God, right? May your soul rest in perfect peace, my love.”
